The Alpine Cookery Course

The Alpine Cookery Course provides training for chalet hosts and cooks working in the Alps. Feathered Owl carried out a programme of search engine optimisation to improve search engine rankings and reduce their reliance on paid listings via Google Adwords to drive traffic to their website. We also built and integrated a self-hosted WordPress blog into the site and trained the client in optimal business blogging practice to help improve their visibility on the Web.

Feathered Owl Technology provided SEO for The Alpine Cookery Course in November 2009. Ant provided an excellent service, clearly explaining the goals of SEO and how to achieve the best solution for what we needed. The work was carried out quickly and all the data entered onto our site within a few weeks of starting the project. Ant also created a blog for our site and assisted with information on how to make this work the most productively for us. Since the project was completed we have had a much higher booking rate onto our courses, exceeding our targets so far. Our search engine rankings have improved considerably, going from being displayed on the 2nd page of most Google searches to high on the 1st page. I feel Ant’s work has directly contributed to our higher bookings and improved the number of page views on our website.

Breathe Yoga

Breathe is London’s leading supplier of yoga and Pilates instructors to private and corporate clients. Breathe approached Feathered Owl seeking advice regarding the maintenance and optimisation of their website. We rewrote the website to ensure full XHTML and CSS validation, optimised meta data and page content to maximise search engine rankings for the client’s chosen search terms and advised the client how to preserve HTML code quality when performing site updates via Dreamweaver.

Chopper’s Bonnets

Chopper’s Bonnets started the trend for the hand-knitted ski hats and beanies now so popular amongst discerning seasonnaires, ski bums and instructors accross the Alps and beyond. Chopper’s came to us because their site was not being indxed properly by Google and their search rankings were poor to non-existent. We fixed on-page navigation issues to that the site could be properly spidered by search engines and optimised metadata and content for their desired search terms.

When asked whether my website had been optimised by Anthony Cullen from Feathered Owl my answer was a look of total bemusment. On reflection I can really say that I have had some fantastic help with my website. Feathered Owl does “natural search optimisation” which was not something an untechnically-minded person like myself understood. Ant basically saved me money by changing meta data on my site so Google can pick it up quicker and rate it higher. This means I am found on the first page and often at the top or near the top of a Google search. It did not cost very much and we have cut out paying for Google clicks. Subsequently I have had a lot more enquiries. Thank you for changing my understanding and really getting my website noticed.

Stapleton’s Chantry

Stapleton’s Chantry guesthouse in Oxfordhire, UK, provides short and long stay accommodation for private guests and business travellers in tranquil rural surroundings. After initially being asked to carry out some content updates and other modifications to their Dreamweaver-based website, we proposed the redevlopment of the site in WordPress to allow the client to maintain the site content themeselves and reduce their reliance on external resources to perform this task. After completing the WordPress migration and training the client in its use, we optimised metadata and page content to improve the site’s rankings in search engine results and provided advice regarding optimal link-building strategies to build and maintain long-term search engine results performance
